Michael Gerard Bauer

Notable for his acclaimed young adult novels The Running Man (2004) and Don't Call Me Ishmael (2006), he received a 2005 Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Book of the Year Award for the former work and the 2007 Children's Peace Prize for the latter.
Before beginning his career as a writer, he studied English at the University of Queensland and taught at high schools in his native Australia.
He published Eric Vale Epic Fail, his eighth young adult novel, in 2012.
He was born and raised in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
He is a contemporary of fellow Australian young adult author John Marsden.
