Most well known as the author of the New York Times bestselling young adult book series The Testing. She has also authored several mystery series, including the Rebecca Robbins mysteries and the Glee Club mysteries.
She earned an undergraduate degree in music and then a master's in opera performance. Throughout her twenties, she spent her career singing and dancing professionally.
Between her work as an author, she has also taught private voice lessons.
The Chicago native has one child.
