John Hartman

Co-founder and original drummer of the rock group The Doobie Brothers who originally acted the band's sole drummer. In 1971, they went to a dual-drummer formation and added Michael Hossack to the group. Hossack would be replaced by Keith Knudsen.
He was introduced to fellow Doobie Brother Tom Johnston by Skip Spence of Moby Grape.
If his music career did not come to fruition, he dreamed of being a full time police officer. He graduated from a reserve police academy in 1988 before working for a police department for three years.
His father resided in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
He would perform alongside John McFee in The Doobie Brothers.
