Chief Medical Examiner most their as the star of the popular Discovery Health Channel series Dr. G: Medical Examiner. She has appeared as a medical expert on a variety of other television shows, including Larry King Live and The Oprah Winfrey Show.
She graduated from Lindbergh High School in 1974. She later earned a medical degree from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine in Missouri.
She drew upon her experiences as a medical examiner for the writing of her 2008 book How Not to Die.
She married her second husband Dr. Mark Wallace in 2007. She has two children from a previous marriage.
It was she who positively identified the remains of Caylee Anthony, daughter of Casey Anthony.
