Henry Baldwin
Supreme Court Justice
Served as an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court from 1830 to 1844.
He graduated from Yale College in 1797.
He dealt with many cases involving the issue of slavery. In one such case, Johnson v. Tompkins, he told the jury they must respect the legal status of slavery.
He was the son of Michael Baldwin and Theodora Walcott.
He was nominated to the Supreme Court by President Andrew Jackson.
