David Josiah Brewer

Served as an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court from 1889 to 1910.
He graduated from Yale University in 1856.
He was an advocate for minority groups, including women and Japanese immigrants.
He was the son of Emilia Field Brewer and Rev. Josiah Brewer.
He was nominated to the Supreme Court by President Benjamin Harrison.
