Saxophonist
Award-winning saxophonist, humanitarian, and leader of Living Color and The Loud Minority. He played often with Count Basie.
He moved to Detroit to play music and ended up drafted into the US Army; he joined Count Basie's band when he was released.
He performed at fundraisers and auctioned off a gold saxophone to benefit the The Jazz Foundation of America.
He was married to Cecilia Foster, his wife of forty-five years; they raised six children.
He arranged "Mack the Knife" for Frank Sinatra on L.A. Is My Lady.
