He took up guitar and clarinet as a teenager before receiving his Master's of Arts degree from the University of Buffalo.
He has created music and sound design for TV networks like The Sundance Channel, MTV, and Bravo.
He married designer and video artist Janene Higgins.
He was a member of the band Bootstrappers with punk bassist Mike Watt.
