Jazz saxophonist and composer known for his solo records, The Ancestors, Theoretically, and his 2005 release Prezens, along with many others.
He was mentored by musicians Anthony Braxton and Julius Hemphill.
He is founder of Screwgun records. He has composed music for the Swiss Arte Quartet, the Rova Saxophone Quartet, and the Kronos Quartet.
He was born in Syracuse, New York.
He has played for guitarist Bill Frisell.
