Jazz composer and arranger who is known for his collaborations with Count Basie. He formed the Almost Big Band in Denmark during his final years.
He started off his musical career by performing with a military band and then played with one of Earl Hines's big bands.
His orchestral arrangements on Alice Clark's 1972 album are considered to be legendary.
His wife Jenny inspired him to start the Almost Big Band in Copenhagen.
Wilkins collaborated with Clark Terry after his first wave of success as a musician.
