Known best for her acclaimed performances in such Tamil films as Naan Kadavul and Vidiyum Munn, this Sri Lankan-born Indian actress also earned accolades for her work in Sinhala-language movies such as Anjalika and Kusa Pabha.
She earned both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in business from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore.
For her performance as Seema in the 2003 Tamil film Jay Jay, she earned the Amrutha Surabi Film Award in the "Best Female Debut" category.
Born in Colombo, Sri Lanka to a family of Sinhalese heritage, she spent the majority of her childhood in India. She was once engaged to model Deepak Shanmuganathan but the couple later split.
She was cast opposite Ajith Kumar in the 2004 film Attahasam.
