She was a believer in hippie counterculture, vegetarianism, and eastern mysticism while at Kent State University.
She was formerly the singer for The Frenchies, but moved over to The Pretenders, whose first hits included "Brass in the Pocket."
She was married to Jim Kerr from 1984 to 1990 and Lucho Brieva from 1997 to 2002. She has two daughters named Yasmin and Natalie.
She once asked Sid Vicious to marry to her so that he could get a work permit.
