Singer for the band Traffic who recorded "Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys." In pursuing his solo career, he released hits like "Roll With It" and "Higher Love."
He would play the organ while a choir boy at his church. Later on, he was a member of the Spencer Davis Group when he was fourteen years old.
He sang with a tenor voice and for played the Hammond organ.
He married Nicole Tacot Weir in 1977; after their divorce in 1986, he remarried Eugenia Crafton in 1987. He has three daughters, Lilly, Mary-Clare and Eliza, and a son, Cal.
He once worked with Eric Clapton in the supergroup Blind Faith.
