He started playing alto saxophone at age thirteen and studied with Phil Woods at a summer music camp.
His albums In the True Tradition and Things Unseen were both issued perfect five-star ratings from All Music Guide to Recorded Jazz.
His father was also a professional musician.
His playing is influenced by the likes of the acclaimed improviser Charlie Parker.
