Known for his public sculptures and his oil paintings of the old Singapore River. Public sculptures like "Singapore Poetry" celebrated Singapore heritage.
He studied at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and at the China Central Academy of Fine Arts.
He designed souvenir Chinese Opera masks for the Singapore Tourism Promotion Board.
He and his family moved to Malaysia when he was eight and relocated to Singapore in 1950.
He and Chinese author Bette Lord were contemporaries.
