Xawery Dunikowski
Sculptor
Polish sculptor who became best known for his Auschwitz-inspired works after surviving the horrors of the Auschwitz concentration camp.
He studied sculpture at the School of Fine Arts under famed sculptor Konstanty Laszczka.
Upon his death, his headstone was created by former pupil Barbara Zbrozyna.
He and his family moved to Warsaw when he was twelve years old.
He was the subject of a 1955 documentary by director Andrzej Wajda.
