A chess Grandmaster who is considered one of the all time greatest Croatian players.
He first became a Grandmaster in 1989.
He won the 2006 European Individual Chess Championship.
He and his family were from the war-torn region of Croatia.
He has competed against Sergei Rublevsky in international play.
