William Morris Meredith Jr.

American poet who won the Pulitzer Prize for Partial Accounts and the National Book Award for Effort at Speech.
He published his first volume of poetry while he was still a student at Princeton University.
He served as United States Poet Laureate from 1978 to 1980.
He lived with his partner, fellow poet Richard Harteis, for thirty-six years.
He was greatly influenced by the work of William Butler Yeats.
