Jones Very
Poet
American poet, author, mystic, and clergyman associated with the Transcendentalism movement. He is most remembered for an 1839 work entitled Essays and Poems.
He attended Harvard University and Harvard Divinity School and became a Shakespearean scholar.
He was prone to psychological disturbances and was institutionalized for a time.
Born in Salem, Massachusetts, he was the illegitimate child of first cousins.
He was a contemporary of author Nathaniel Hawthorne.
