Mark F. Jarman
Poet
American poet, literary critic, editor, and academic often associated with the New Formalism movement. His award-winning poetic works include The Black Riviera and Questions for Ecclesiastes.
His father was a minister whose clerical work moved his Kentucky-bred family to California and Scotland.
He received the Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize for a 1997 work entitled Questions for Ecclesiastes.
He married singer and University of California-Santa Cruz classmate Amy Jarman. The couple became parents to two daughters.
He and poet Rita Dove were classmates in the Iowa Writers' Workshop's Master of Fine Arts program in the mid-1970s.
