Robert Bridges
Poet
British poet, author, hymn writer, and medical doctor who served as United Kingdom Poet Laureate from 1913-1930. His works include Eros and Psyche (poetry collection), The Christian Captives (verse play), and "O Gladsome Light" (hymn).
He attended Eton College and Corpus Christi College (Oxford) before studying medicine in London.
He was the first United Kingdom Poet Laureate to hold a medical degree.
His daughter, Elizabeth Daryush, was also a poet.
His poems were set to music by Gustav Holst and other composers.
