He first played professionally with the OHL's Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in 2002.
He was selected 99th overall by the Penguins in the 2004 NHL Draft.
He was born and raised in Ontario, Canada.
He was a member of the Penguins' 2009 Stanley Cup Championship team, led by captain Sidney Crosby.
