Thomas Reiter
Astronaut
The first German astronaut to conduct a spacewalk. During his six missions, he spent more than 350 days in space. He later served as the European Space Agency's Director of Human Spaceflight and Operations.
In 1982 he received a degree in aerospace engineering from Bundeswehr University, Munich.
He visited the Mir Space Station and served on ISS Expedition 13/14.
His marriage produced two sons.
He and Gerhard Thiele were fellow German astronauts.
