Thomas Nagel
Philosopher
Philosopher of Law and a professor who focused on philosophy of mind, political philosophy, and ethics.
He studied at Cornell University, Harvard, and the University of Oxford. He became known for his critiques of reductionist accounts of the mind.
He began having his philosophical works published when he was 22 years old. He contributed to deontological and liberal moral and political theory via The Possibility of Altruism, his tome from 1970.
He was raised in a Jewish family in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. He married Anne Hollander.
He was influenced by Ludwig Wittgenstein.
