Thomas Lux
Poet
American poet and professor whose poetry collections include Split Horizon and The Street of Clocks. He taught writing at Sarah Lawrence College, Warren Wilson College, and the Georgia Institute of Technology.
He grew up on a Massachusetts dairy farm and excelled at athletics.
He was a 1995 recipient of the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award.
His mother was a Sears & Roebuck employee, and his father worked as a milkman.
He was born in the same year as fellow poet Babette Deutsch.
