Faiz Ahmad Faiz
Poet
Acclaimed Punjabi and Urdu-language poet and 1962 recipient of the Lenin Peace Prize. His best-known works include Dast-e-Sabah, Naqsh-e-Faryadi, and Zindan-nama.
He studied at the Government College University and at Punjab University's Oriental College and became interested in Communism during his time as a student.
He was allegedly involved in a conspiracy to oppose the government of Liaquat Ali Khan.
He raised two daughters with Alys Faiz.
Faiz and Ehsan Sehgal are both celebrated Pakistani poets.
