Thomas Henry Huxley
Biologist
English biologist who was known as "Darwin's Bulldog" due to his advocacy of Charles Darwin's theory of evolution.
He taught himself biology as a teenager and learned about invertebrates and vertebrates and was apprenticed to several practitioners when he was thirteen.
He was voted onto the London School Board in 1870 after being a major influence to British schools.
He married Henrietta Anne Heathorn in 1855 and they had eight children.
He was an important advocate of Charles Darwin's theory of evolution.
