In 2007, she earned her professional life coaching certificate. She had previously been a musician and lead singer for various bands throughout the 1990s.
She has also operated as a blogger and writer for the website CertainlyHer.com. In October 2005, she founded her own independent record company SAM Records. She became a certified life coach in 2007 and a certified Advanced DNA Theta Healer in 2015.
She was born in Detroit, Michigan and raised in Southern California. She was married to her first husband, former Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington, from 1996 to 2005.
She and Chester had a son named Draven Sebastian Bennington in 2002.
