Richard Montague
Philosopher
Mathematician and philosopher who was remembered for creating a logical approach to natural language semantics called Montague grammar.
He was a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, where he was taught by the legendary mathematician and logician Alfred Tarski.
His life served as the inspiration for the novel The Semantics of Murder from 2008.
He was born in Stockton, California.
He and entrepreneur Brian Maxwell both graduated from UC Berkeley.
