Known as "Rip," he was an NBA shooting guard with a deadly 15-foot jump shot. He helped lead the Detroit Pistons to an NBA Championship in 2004.
He played three years of college basketball at the University of Connecticut, leading the team to an NCAA Championship in 1999.
He was traded to the Detroit Pistons for Jerry Stackhouse on September 11, 2002.
He married T.J. Lottie on July 11, 2009 and he has a son named Richard Clay Hamilton II.
He won an NBA Championship in 2004 with the Detroit Pistons, playing alongside star point guard Chauncey Billups.
