He played 1 year of college basketball at Louisiana State University, helping lead his team to the Final Four in 2006.
He only played two years of high school basketball at McKinley in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and was never considered a top prospect.
He was raised with a brother named Travis and a sister named Brandy.
From 2008 to 2010 he played on the Chicago Bulls with All-Star point guard Derrick Rose.
