Fifth overall pick of the New York Knicks in the 1986 NBA draft, his most notable on court accomplishment came in 1989 when he won the Slam Dunk Championship that year.
He played his college ball at the University of Kentucky where he was named two time SEC Player of the Year and named to first team All-American in 1986.
Injuries slowly demised his NBA career and he was forced to play in Europe for some time before returning to the NBA to play for the Washington Bullets briefly.
He was born in Roberta, Georgia and was given the name Mr. Basketball in 1982 in his home state.
He was chosen to play professionally in 1986, the same year that Dennis Rodman was drafted.
