He grew up in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania and went on to play trumpet on the first Blood, Sweat, and Tears album.
He and his brother Michael founded the group the Brecker Brothers, a funk fusion band.
His first wife was a Brazilian jazz pianist
He has collaborated with many artists, including Bruce Springsteen.
