Known as The Destroying Angel of Mormondom, he worked as the personal bodyguard of Joseph Jr. and Brigham Young of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS).
When he was sixteen, he was baptized by LDS.
He was the oldest living member of LDS at the time of his death of natural cause.
His parents were Joseph Smith's neighbors Orin and Sarah Rockwell.
He was a close friend of Joseph Smith, who founded Mormonism.
