Former missionary in the Congo, best known for his book, "Bantu Philosophy," from 1945.
He entered into a Franciscan seminary to begin his studies in 1924.
He was not educated in Philosophy, but the ideas proposed in his book had a massive influence on African culture.
He was born in Berlaar, Belgium.
He and Mother Teresa were contemporaries.
