William Richards
Missionary
American missionary and politician in the Kingdom of Hawaii. He helped reform land titles and was the kingdom's first Minister of Public Instruction.
He sailed on the ship Thames under Captain Clasby to Hawaii.
He was appointed special envoy to U.S. and Great Britain with native Hawaiian Timothy Haʻalilio after he helped write the 1840 Constitution of the Kingdom of Hawaii.
He married Clarissa Lyman in 1822.
He and Percival Lowell were both U.S. diplomats.
