Morris Halle
Teacher
Latvian-American linguist and professor emeritus of linguistics at MIT.
He studied engineering at the City College of New York before serving in the US Army.
He retired from MIT in 1996, but remained active in research and publication.
He married artist Rosamond Thaxter Strong Halle, and they had three sons.
He and Noam Chomsky wrote the book The Sound Pattern of English.
