Anies Baswedan

Indonesian academic who previously served as the Minister of Education and Culture of Indonesia from 2014 to 2016. He went on to enter the race for Jakarta's governor in 2017.
He earned a doctorate in political science from Northern Illinois University and a master's in international security and economic policy from University of Maryland.
He moderated the first ever presidential debate in Indonesia. The event was broadcasted and watched by no less than 100 million people.
His grandfather, AR Baswedan, was a Minister of Information and a founding father of Indonesia. He has four children, Mutiara, Mikail, Kaisar and Ismail.
While serving as Minister of Education and Culture of Indonesia, he served under President Joko Widodo.
