All-Star MLB first baseman who was known as "Hit Dog"; won the American League's Most Valuable Player Award in 1995, while playing for the Boston Red Sox.
He played college baseball alongside future MLB All-Star Craig Biggio at Seton Hall University.
He sprained his ankle on the dugout steps during his very first game with the Anaheim Angels in 1999.
He married Gail Turkovich-Vaughn in 2000 and he has a daughter named Grace. His nephew Cory was drafted by the New York Mets in 2010.
He played alongside shortstop Nomar Garciaparra on the Boston Red Sox from 1996 to 1998.
