Manuel Baquedano
War Hero
Leader of the Chilean Army during the War of the Pacific. He also served as a Chilean senator and was twice offered the chance to run for president.
He was only fifteen years old when he left home to fight in the War of the Confederation.
He played a key role in the events of the Revolution of 1851.
He was born in Santiago, Chile to a family of Basque heritage.
He and Alexander Kelly were fellow war heroes.
