About

Neo-traditional architect and urban planner who criticized modernist theories and influenced the New Urbanism movement. One of his most recognized projects was the continuous development of Poundbury, the urban extension to Dorchester.

Before Fame

He only studied architecture for one year at the University of Stuttgart in Germany before dropping out to work in the London firm of James Stirling. He then taught for 20 years at the Architectural Association and the Royal College of Art, refusing to build partly out of his protest of Modernism.

Trivia

He blamed modernism for the formation of suburbs.

His older brother became architect Rob Krier.
