She attended Yale University, where she studied English. She published her first novel, Shadow and Bone, in 2012.
She's also worked in advertising and special effects and has more than 470,000 followers on Instagram.
She was born in Jerusalem, Israel, and moved to Los Angeles, where she was raised by her grandparents.
