Grammy Award-winning multi-instrumentalist endorsed by Down Beat Magazine who learned under Gary Burton and Herb Pomeroy.
He attended Berklee College of Music and moved to New York City to perform with Mel Lewis' Big Band.
His work on the album Quartets: Live at the Village Vanguard earned him the title Jazz Album of the Year from Down Beat Magazine.
He married Judi Silvano, a jazz singer.
One of Lovano's early influences was Dizzy Gillespie.
