Swing and bebop trumpet player, as well as a well-respected music teacher.
He was invited to play with the Musicians Union in Gloucester when he was sixteen and went on to attend Berklee College of Music.
He played at Boston's Hi-Hat and Storyville clubs with Charlie Parker, who held him in high regards.
He grew up in the Boston area.
He played backup for many well-known singers, including Ella Fitzgerald.
