Salvadoran politician who was one of the main leaders of the People's Revolutionary Army, a group that focused on the military aspect of the Salvadoran Civil War, which raged from 1979 to 1992.
He joined the People's Revolutionary Army in 1979 when he was 18 years old.
He remained with the People's Revolutionary Army until 1995 and afterwards became a left-wing spokesperson in Latin America.
He has three sons, Guillermo, Felipe and Rafael, with his wife Roxana.
He was accused of being involved in the 1975 killing of Roque Dalton.
