Alan García

Peruvian lawyer and politician who served as President of Peru from 1985 to 1990 and again from 2006 to 2011. He was blamed for both social unrest and environmental damage in his country.
He was raised in Lima, Peru in the Roman Catholic faith.
His first term was marked by a severe economic crisis, social unrest, and violence. His second, however, saw Peru averaging seven percent financial growth per year.
He was married to Carla Buscaglia from 1973 until 1980. He married his second wife, Pilar Nores, in 1983. He had five children, Carla, Alan, Josefina, Gabriela, and Luciana. He'd die from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
In 2011, he was succeeded in office by Ollanta Humala.
