Roque Dalton

Important Salvadoran poet, author, and leftist political figure who is best known for such poetic works as El mar, Los testimonios, and La ventana en el rostro. His essays include "Cesar Vallejo," "El Salvador (monografia)," and "Un libro rojo para Lenin."
He attended a Salvadoran Jesuit school. He published his first poetry collection, Mia junto a los pajaros, in 1957.
He was a member of the People's Revolutionary Army and was murdered by members of the group who disagreed with his politics.
