Best known as the wife of Swedish director Ingmar Bergman, she kept a diary that was published by Bergman after her death.
She grew up in Stockholm, Sweden. She met Ingmar Bergman in 1957, but did not marry him until 1969.
She died of cancer at the age of sixty-five.
She was the fifth wife of Ingmar Bergman, and Bergman was her second husband; she had previously been married to Jan-Carl von Rosen. Her two marriages produced a total of four children.
Actress Liv Ullmann had a romantic relationship with von Rosen's husband, Ingmar Bergman.
