His brother, Valentin, is also an accomplished dancer and has danced on Dancing With The Stars. He welcomed a son named Shai with Peta Murgatroyd in January 2017. He and Peta married in July 2017. He was previously engaged to fellow dancer Karina Smirnoff and he dated model Kate Upton.
He was paired with Kirstie Alley for the Dancing with the Stars: All Stars season.
