Award-winning novelist and young adult author whose works include Elsewhere and Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac. She also worked as a screenwriter, winning the Independent Spirit Award for her debut screenplay.
She worked during her teenage years as a newspaper music critic. In 2000, she graduated from Harvard University with a degree in literature.
Her debut novel, Elsewhere, won several awards and was translated into more than twenty languages.
She was born and raised in New York City.
Her first screenplay, Conversations with Other Women, was made into a film starring Helena Bonham Carter and Aaron Eckhart.
